As some of you may know, vertical marketer QuinStreet held an IPO last week. The IPO originally was priced at $17 to $19 in the prospectus, but trading opened on Thursday at $15. Since then, QuinStreet (NASDAQ:QNST) stock has marched lowered touching lows of $13.94 today.
QNST should have taken a hint from FriendFinder when they decided to postpone their IPO, citing an inclement stock market environment.

Domainer Michael Berkens has pointed out that the ICANN, a supposedly non-profit organization, is pushing for gTLDs because it is all about money.
Regardless of the motive, here are 3 reasons why gTLDs are doomed to fail.
1) .NET is a bellweather of TLD failure
The .NET domain has been around for decades now, but has very weak adoption in popular culture. When was the last time you heard of a .NET millionaire?
2) Only 2 or 3 Letter TLDs are acceptable
A popularly cited gTLD is Wolfgang Puck’s proposed .FOOD gTLD. He is an idiot thinking that this could possibly gain traction. .MOBI and .INFO have been rampantly pumped by domain registrars, but I have never EVER seen a .MOBI or .INFO in the top 10 of Google SERPS. There is something about 4 letter TLDs that makes them look straight up SPAMMY.
3) Internet users are too stupid
The .COM will always be paramount, because Internet users are shockingly stupid and resistant to change. Even if a Internet company develops a pristine web property like a widgets.FOOD, there will always be people typing in widgets.COM into the navbar… So even then, the company would be forced to acquire widgets.COM anyway…. So what was the point of building the site ona gTLD in the first place??!
